Short on Time Summary

Each month we like to keep you updated with the latest updates and developments within the Microsoft 365 suite. This month we explore updates for Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Viva, SharePoint, and more.

We hope you find these interesting.

SharePoint

New SharePoint site templates

Utilise new templates to create dedicated HR sites and streamline contract management. Powered by Microsoft Syntex, you can use prebuilt models to improve how you manage and track contracts. HR templates enable you to establish a centralised site where employees can access information on organisational policies, upcoming events, learning and development resources, and more.

Rename SharePoint Tenant URLs

This feature has now entered general availability for organisations with less than 10,000 sites across OneDrive and SharePoint. It supports business growth and acquisitions by making it easier to rebrand. If you want to change your organisation’s name, you can update the SharePoint domain in all site URLs and move forward with that new name.

SharePoint admin centre: Bring together management of site information

Make your administration processes more efficient by introducing quick access for Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Groups in the site detail panel. The ‘Active Sites’ tab in SharePoint now allows admins with permissions for all related admin centres to edit group members, names and descriptions from a single location.

Microsoft Teams

Sign Language View in Teams

Increase the visibility of sign language interpreters during Teams meetings. Users who use sign language can pin interpreters in one fixed location in the centre of their screen while maintaining a high-quality video experience. You can also go to the Accessibility tab in your Teams app settings to add regular sign language users to a prioritised signers list. This update simplifies implementing inclusive practices so all your employees can thrive.

OneDrive for Business: Upload Documents to E-sign

Upload documents from OneDrive for Business to simplify collecting signatures online when a new approval request is created. E-signature requests can also be cancelled or declined.

Schedule send messages in Teams

Flexible working has become the norm for workers across the majority of sectors and Teams is adapting to reflect this. Similar to Outlook’s email scheduling feature, you can now change the date and time you want your Teams message to be delivered. Find the ‘schedule send’ option by right clicking the send button.

Protecting work-life balance and wellbeing has never been more important. Now you can work in alignment with your co-workers’ variables schedules and reach them during their specified work hours.

Microsoft Viva

Viva Insights: Redesigned praise experience

Peer-to-peer recognition is becoming more personalised and engaging, with options to customise the gradient of the background and use emojis instead of badges. You can privately view data trends to help you keep track of the praise you send and receive, identify your top fans and more.

Microsoft Viva: Deeper insights from briefing emails

Microsoft have announced enhancements to the briefing email that will surface more of the content you need to have a productive day, accessible directly from your inbox. Briefing email subject lines will now be tailored to reflect the content and give users an at-a-glance preview of what’s inside. Also draw attention to suggested actions pulled from 1:1 Teams chats and receive Viva Learning cards with personalised reminders.

Updated Viva admin experience in M365 Admin Centre

Viva modules can now be searched for in the Microsoft 365 admin centre, giving admins access to all the details required to manage implementation. Within the centre, you can also control user permissions for each app and follow guided steps to easily configure Viva.
